Our Commitment to Sustainability

Visions of Sustainability

Across all our hotels, we rely on innovative and environmentally friendly technologies to reduce our ecological footprint. By using natural resources and sustainable energy sources, we actively contribute to climate protection. Our measures promote biodiversity and support a functioning circular economy. In doing so, we combine tourism with a responsible approach to the environment.

Our comprehensive sustainability program, Visions of Sustainability, brings together all these efforts in a holistic strategy. It sets clear targets for energy efficiency, waste reduction, and the protection of local ecosystems. Through continuous improvement, we are achieving measurable progress on the path to climate-neutral hospitality.

Sustainable Energy from Lake Water

A key component of our commitment to environmentally friendly technologies is the use of water from Lake Lucerne for energy production. Through an innovative system, lake water is used to efficiently heat and cool our hotel. This water serves as a natural energy source, integrated into our heating and cooling system via heat exchangers.

This process allows us to largely eliminate the need for fossil fuels and significantly reduce CO₂ emissions. The use of this eco-friendly technology not only helps minimize our environmental footprint but also exemplifies the connection between regional resource use and sustainable business practices.

Our Own Forest – For Climate and Biodiversity

A unique aspect of our sustainability commitment is the ownership of 25,000 square meters of private forest. This area serves not only as a natural carbon sink, but also makes a valuable contribution to promoting biodiversity and stabilizing local ecosystems.

We manage the forest responsibly and in harmony with nature—guided by ecological principles and in alignment with the regional flora and fauna. Through sustainable forestry practices and by avoiding excessive interventions, we preserve habitats for numerous plant and animal species while also maintaining the forest’s essential protective functions—such as water regulation, air purification, and soil conservation—for the long term.

Solar Power from Our Own Rooftop

Another key pillar of our energy and climate strategy is the use of solar energy.

By harnessing the power of the sun, we not only reduce our dependence on conventional energy sources but also significantly lower our CO₂ emissions. Our solar installation covers a substantial portion of our in-house electricity demand, supporting our efforts toward a more self-sufficient and sustainable energy supply.

This investment in renewable energy allows us to actively contribute to the energy transition while setting a visible example of future-oriented business practices in tourism.

OK:GO Initiative

We support the ‘OK:GO’ initiative of the Swiss Tourism Association (STV). By participating, we provide guests with accessibility information at a glance.

The initiative aims to make information about the accessibility of services available to the public. This allows people with disabilities, senior citizens and families with small children to enjoy greater autonomy and ease when planning their trips.
